Another famous civilian was Anne Frank. Her family hid from the Nazis in a secret room in a house in Amsterdam during World War II. They were eventually betrayed and Anne eventually died in Bergen Belsen. During her time in hiding she kept a diary which was discovered after the war and has since been translated into many different languages.
